Reserve their time first
The safest surprise is one the recipient can actually enjoy. Agree a free afternoon or evening without naming the show, and check whether they need childcare, time off or help traveling. If the date is still uncertain, avoid fixing a performance solely to keep the secret.
Check the communication path
Recipient names and recipient email addresses have different consequences. A lead-guest name identifies the attendee; an email address may also receive confirmations or updates. Review both fields and the delivery instructions. Ask tickadoo support if the screen does not make the communication path clear.
Give them time to prepare
A show-day reveal can work for someone already nearby, but it is less useful for a visitor who needs to travel or someone with access requirements. Share enough practical detail early: meeting point, approximate time commitment and any dress or bag rules shown in the booking instructions.
Keep the decorative reveal separate from admission
A personal reveal card is for a message. They have no ticket barcode, seat entitlement or redeemable value. If you give one before buying, say that it is a plan rather than a confirmed booking. Once booked, share the actual admission instructions securely.
Use the show as the reveal, not the recipient’s availability
You can ask someone to keep a New York evening free without disclosing the production. Check who else is attending and whether the return journey works before buying. For a visiting recipient, reveal the practical commitment early enough for travel and access arrangements. The surprise can be that you chose Chicago or Wicked; it does not need to be a last-minute discovery that they must reach a theater.
Choose the delivery method that actually supports your plan
A scheduled gift-card email is different from a ticket confirmation. The tickadoo voucher form lets you review its delivery choice, while fixed-date tickets follow their own fulfillment instructions. Do not assume entering a recipient name silently schedules ticket emails. If the checkout does not make the communication path clear, ask support before payment. A personal reveal card can accompany the gift, but it is not a valid ticket or proof of a reserved seat.
