Put the performance in the calendar
Confirm the date, start time and expected running time on the listing and booking instructions. Leave room for an interval if one is listed. Do not arrange a tight train connection or dinner reservation using a generic estimate for all musicals.
Build around the actual venue
Use the exact theater address and entrance. Times Square can be busy, and the walk between a restaurant and a theater may take longer than a map suggests at show time. Confirm which street the recipient needs rather than simply saying “Broadway”.
Make dinner a separate, deliberate choice
Allow enough time to eat without rushing and tell the restaurant if you have a performance to catch. Check dietary requirements with the recipient. Only call the gift a dinner-and-show package if that exact booked product includes both; otherwise explain the separate arrangements.
Leave something to choose together
You can keep the show as the surprise while asking the recipient to choose lunch or a meeting point. If you give a voucher instead, make the planning session part of the present: choose a date together once they are ready to redeem.
Choose a realistic order for a visiting guest
First settle the day they will be in New York, then check a suitable performance and its venue. After the tickets are confirmed, plan any restaurant reservation and the journey home. Keep arrival-day plans flexible if a flight or train delay would put the performance at risk. A ticket is not an insurance policy for travel disruption; use the selected booking terms rather than assuming it can be moved.
Build the gift around the right theater
Wicked is listed at the Gershwin Theatre, Hamilton at the Richard Rodgers Theatre and Maybe Happy Ending at the Belasco Theatre. Use the address and entrance instructions in the actual booking rather than treating “Broadway” as one destination. Check the venue’s arrival advice and your route before the day. For a meal, decide whether it fits before or after the show using that performance’s stated running time, not an average for all musicals. Do not promise a named restaurant or transport connection until separately confirmed.
